Itinerary
- Day 1
Coca to Napo River Lodge
You'll arrive at the lodge dock in Coca and have a packed lunch before settling in for a two-hour boat ride on the Napo River. The indigenous Kichwa Añangu Community will meet you with a traditional welcome drink. Once you're in your room, you can pick between hiking up to a 40-meter observation tower to spot wildlife and catch the sunset, or taking a kayak out on the river instead. Dinner at the lodge wraps up your first night.

- Day 2
Yasuní Biosphere Reserve - Napo River & Añangu Creek
Start early with breakfast, then motorized canoe out to the Parrot Clay Lick on the Napo River where you'll watch parrots and parakeets come in. A 30-minute walk through the forest gets you to a viewpoint where howler monkeys, tapirs, or jaguars might show up. The Kury Muyu intercultural center lets you learn about Kichwa culture straight from the community's women, and there's a handicraft shop to browse. After lunch and a rest, you'll head back out by boat on Añangu Creek to look for monkeys, caimans, and giant otters. The evening finishes with an ancestral catamaran ride where you'll hear Kichwa legends and try traditional snacks.

- Day 3
Tierra Firme Forest - Observation Tower & Night Walk
You'll have sunrise breakfast and learn about Kichwa worldview by visiting sustainable community projects. A trail walk through terra firme forest shows you wildlife, ceiba trees, and endemic shrubs. Back at the lodge for lunch and rest time, then you'll hike to a second 36-meter observation tower to see birds, howler monkeys, and squirrel monkeys. Traditional dinner features local Amazonian food like maito (grilled fish wrapped in bijao leaf) or chontakuru (roasted chonta worms). After eating, grab a flashlight for a night walk to spot insects, reptiles, and nocturnal mammals.

- Day 4
Coca - Departure from Napo River Lodge
If you want, join the guayusada ritual at 4:30 AM, an ancient Kichwa ceremony where you'll drink the sacred guayusa drink, hear traditional songs, and possibly get your dreams interpreted by a mamakuna elder. Breakfast comes while your luggage gets packed, then you'll travel back to El Coca by motor canoe, taking one last look at the tropical jungle as you head to the port.
