Naples
You'll meet your trip leader and fellow travelers at 6 pm in Naples. If you get there early, the coast is worth checking out and you can grab pizza dinner with local wine while looking out over the Gulf of Naples.

Naples to Civita
Head to Civita by boat, train, and private vehicle. This village was founded by Albanian refugees and locals speak Arberesh, which blends Italian and Albanian together. You can browse the local shops, try regional food, or take a walk through the hills around town.

Pollino National Park
After breakfast, you have the option to hike Mount Sellaro in Pollino National Park if you want a challenging day with impressive views of the Achaean coast. Stop in Cerchiara di Calabria for local bread along the way. If hiking doesn't appeal to you, walk around the park to see dramatic cliffs, canyons, and wildlife like peregrine falcons and Egyptian vultures.

Civita to Tropea
Transfer to Paola and then take the train to Tropea, a clifftop town with faded buildings and old fortifications. Start with an orientation walk with your leader, then check out the Norman Duomo with its Madonna of Romania icon or the Museo Diocesano. Alternatively, head to the beach to see the impressive cliff structures from below.

Tropea to Stromboli
Weather permitting, you'll take a boat trip to Stromboli this morning. Stop at San Vincenzo to swim in the Aeolian waters, shop along the main street, or have lunch at a local restaurant. In the evening, cruise to the Sciara del Fuoco to see where lava flows during Stromboli's eruptions.

Stromboli to Reggio Calabria
Take the train to Reggio Calabria, Sicily's gateway. This city rebuilt after major earthquakes, so you'll see a mix of old and modern architecture during your orientation walk. Visit the National Archaeological Museum to see the Bronzi di Riace, two giant bronze statues, plus other exhibits from Greek-influenced sites around Calabria. Try grilled swordfish and other local specialties for dinner.

Reggio Calabria to Catania
Drive to Taormina for a private boat excursion along Sicily's dramatic east coast. You'll explore bays and caves with imposing rock formations, enjoy an aperitif with snacks, and hear about the village from your skipper. There may be time for a swim before heading by boat to Catania, where you have a free evening to check out the bar scene and find somewhere for dinner.

Landmarks/POIs Taormina Sicilian Coast - Day 8
Catania
Start with an orientation walk through Catania's large piazzas and wide streets. Try granita, a semi-frozen dessert. If you're interested, you can visit Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its Late Baroque architecture. Later, there's a farewell group dinner where you'll raise a toast to the trip.
