Our guide was nice and efficient. She was very knowledgeable and shared a variety of good information. It might be good to have a guide separate from the driver. Asked on August 23rd, 2025How do you hunt for Northern Lights? It does not seem to be built into the itinerary.
Snaeland TravelOperator•Written August 2025The 'Hunt' for the Northern Lights is listed under Day 2 of the itinerary. If the weather permits, search for the captivating Northern Lights in the evening with the guide. If it is not possible on Day 2 then it will be rescheduled for Day 3 in the evening. We try our best to find Northern Lights but as this is a natural phenomena we cannot guarantee sightings.

Asked on July 19th, 2025Having trouble figuring out what towns the evening accommodations are. Are there additional excursions to possibly see the Northern Lights? Approximately how much time is spent on the bus?

This tour has the first and last night in Reykjavík, and the two nights in the south will be in Vík. For this tour there is a Northern Lights Hunt on one or both of the evenings in the countryside. As it is a Bus tour there is a considerable time on the bus as you will be on the road to get to the sightseeing places. But there are plenty of stops on the way, each stop is from 30 minutes up to an hour, the longer stops will be for lunch also.

Once you are ready to proceed with your booking, you might not be able to walk all the way up to all of the attractions, but you will be able to see most of them without walking too far from the parking. Although if it is icy it might not be advisable with a walker. Weather can be quite unpredictable in January, so it really depends on how confident you feel with being able to walk in different weathers.

Single room allotment is in general possible - single room price will apply. We still have 1 room available on the Northern Lights tour starting 06th March. Northern Lights in late February, beginning of March: It gets still dark enough at night to be able to see the lights well, when there are lights. As always weather conditions must be good in order to see them (clear sky). If the weather is good, the changes are good. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that Northern Lights can be seen.

The guide chooses either night that has better prospect to see the lights. He takes the group for a drive. Guests are welcomed as well to go outside and check for the lights if they will appear on both nights. The hotel at countryside as a good location away from light pollution.
