Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Siem Reap to Kampong Cham

    You'll arrive in Siem Reap by 7:30 AM, then head to your tour briefing at 8:30 AM. From there, the journey takes you through rural Cambodia toward Kampong Cham, with stops at the Khmer bridge at Kampong Kdei in Kampong Thom and a stone cutters village along the way. Once you board the Scenic Spirit, there's a cocktail reception and welcome dinner waiting, and then you'll settle into your private suite for the night.

  2. Day 2

    Kampong Cham

    This morning you'll wake as the ship approaches Wat Hanchey, an ancient hilltop pagoda. You can walk or drive to the top for views of the cruise from above. The afternoon involves sailing upstream along the Mekong River before returning to Kampong Cham, where you'll explore the riverfront boulevard lined with Chinese shopfronts, restaurants, and colonial buildings. Later, you can check out the night market before heading back to the ship.

  3. Day 3

    Kampong Cham to Angkor Ban

    Today you'll choose from three freechoice options. One route takes you to Phnom Pros pagoda to learn about local folklore and see the Buddha Garden and monkeys, followed by Wat Nokor Bachey which blends Angkorian and modern temple styles. Another option focuses on colonial history through French shophouses, the Central Market, a rubber plantation, and a betel nut village. Or you can head to remote Kho Penh Village on Bamboo Island by remork and bamboo bridge. Back on the Scenic Spirit, you'll have afternoon time to relax before sailing to Angkor Ban.

  4. Day 4

    Angkor Ban to Phnom Penh

    You'll explore Angkor Ban's historical wooden houses and visit a local school teaching English, plus experience a Buddhist pagoda. During a special enrich activity, you'll receive a traditional monk blessing and learn Buddhist prayer before an alms ceremony. After lunch on the ship, you'll travel by tuk tuk to Oknha Tey island to see silk weaving production and optionally learn to make and wear the Cambodian scarf. The evening includes relaxation at the Wellness Centre or Beauty Salon, followed by Scenic Sunset Drinks on the sundeck and a cultural performance by the Cambodian Student and Children's Organisation.

Visit the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum to learn about the Khmer Rouge era, or take a hands-on cooking class with a local chef at the market where you'll prepare your own lunch. A third option lets you explore the city's French architecture by remok and shop at the Central Market, famous for its Art Deco design. You'll return to the ship for lunch and leisure time. In the evening, an enrich tour takes you through Phnom Penh by City Lights before a private rum distillery tour and tasting.

    You'll visit the Royal Palace with the famous Silver Pagoda in an included tour. Built in the 1860s on the riverfront, it still serves as the official residence of the King of Cambodia. Back on the Scenic Spirit, the ship sails toward the Cambodia-Vietnam border as you enjoy a relaxing afternoon with access to the library, lounge, pool, and your suite. After clearing immigration into Vietnam at the border, there's a themed dinner on board with a lion dance performed by locals on the sundeck.

    Tan Chau

    Start your day with optional onboard activities like the gym, early morning yoga, or sauna. You'll choose from three freechoice options including Tra Su Bird Sanctuary by sampan through mangroves, or traditional rural farming on Evergreen Island with a xe loi ride to a colorful Cao Dai temple. Another option takes you by speedboat to Chau Doc to visit the Tay An temple at Sam Mountain's foot, then by sampan through Vinh Te canal and a family fish farm. End the day with cocktails by the pool as the ship sails toward Sa Dec.

    You'll board a sampan to explore Sa Dec's wet market over two hours, meeting sellers and seeing live fish, frogs, and snakes. Your expert guide takes you through the grand home of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, a Chinese merchant who inspired Marguerite Duras' novel L'Amant, revealing the story behind this tale of tragic love. Back on the ship for lunch, you'll spend a relaxing afternoon sailing downstream to Cai Be.

Or relax at Le Longanier French colonial house restaurant with morning tea and traditional Vietnamese songs. A third option offers a hands-on cocktail and mocktail making class onboard using fresh local ingredients. After lunch on the ship, you'll have a relaxing afternoon on the Mekong River, watch the sunset, and enjoy your farewell dinner with the crew.

You'll leave with full camera and memories from your Mekong River journey.

    From a value perspective, overall it was about average. Also, sine I booked a premium cabin on the Scenic Spirit, I was expecting all ground transport to be of equal quality. One of the buses options used a few times was quite old and run-down.

The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 95 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
