- Day 1
Marrakech to Imlil
After collecting your luggage, you'll drive from Marrakech toward Imlil through rolling valleys and terraced fields dotted with Berber villages. The road winds through the Atlas Mountain foothills with nice views the whole way. Once you arrive at your traditional mountain riad, you'll settle in and have a warm Moroccan dinner with fresh local ingredients that evening.

Imlil to Tacheddirt
Following breakfast, you'll meet your mule team and start trekking through the Atlas Mountains on a route that passes lush fields and Berber villages. The trail climbs to Tizi n'Tamaterte pass at 2,279 meters (7,478 feet), then descends toward Ouanskra before continuing up to Tacheddirt at 3,000 meters (9,843 feet). You'll camp beside the river once you arrive.

Tacheddirt to Azib Likkemt
This day starts with a steady trek through the valley, then gets more demanding as you face a steep ascent of Tizi Likkemt pass at 3,555 meters (11,663 feet). The loose scree requires focus and real endurance to work through. Once you reach the summit, the views of the Toubkal massif make the effort worthwhile. After descending to Azib Likkemt village, you'll camp for the night.

Azib Likkemt to Amsouzert
You'll start at Tizi n'Ououraine at 3,120 meters (10,236 feet) and enjoy sweeping views of the Toubkal massif and Ifni Dome throughout this relatively long but easier day. The trail meanders through mountain valleys and traditional Berber villages as it descends toward Amsouzert, a simple village where you'll stay in dormitory-style accommodation at the local gite.

Amsouzert to Ifni Lake
From Amsouzert, you'll head west and trek through quaint Berber villages set among rocky terrain and dramatic peaks. The trail leads to Ifni Lake, the only lake in the Toubkal massif, surrounded by jagged peaks. You'll typically arrive around lunch, giving you the afternoon to relax and walk around the lake's shores. That night you'll camp nearby under the stars.

Ifni Lake to Nelter Hut
Today brings a steep climb up a scree slope to Tizi n'Ouanoums pass at 3,664 meters (12,021 feet). This narrow ledge provides dramatic views across the surrounding peaks and valleys below. After reaching the pass, you'll descend to Nelter Hut, a mountain refuge where you can choose to stay indoors in the hut or pitch a tent outside under the night sky.

Nelter Hut to Imlil
You'll leave before dawn for the final summit ascent, which takes around 2 to 3 hours under good conditions. The top offers wide views across the entire Atlas range and out to the plains surrounding Marrakech. After spending time at the summit, you'll descend through Sidi Chamharouch and Armed villages, then follow the Maizane River on a shaded forested trail back down to the trailhead at Imlil.
