Madelon· December 9th, 2025A Truly Unforgettable Japan Experience! I recently returned from a guided tour of Japan, and I can honestly say it was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully planned, incredibly smooth, and absolutely unforgettable. Our guide Daan was knowledgeable, friendly, and full of fascinating stories that brought each destination to life. Whether we were exploring the buzzing streets of Tokyo, wandering through ancient temples in Kyoto, or soaking in the tranquility of traditional gardens, the tour struck the perfect balance between cultural immersion, sightseeing, and free time. -MadelonShow more

Wishing you more great trips ahead and hope to see you again ????Trip date: November 2025- EMEmily· December 3rd, 2025I had an amazing time in Japan, we got to see all of the must visit spots as well as a few hidden gems - I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see a lot, learn a lot and enjoy the experience! And a massive thank you to our fantastic tour guide Daan, who made the experience truly unforgettable. He was attentive, friendly, funny, and had plenty of great recommendations for our free time! One Life Adventures commented on this reviewThank you for your lovely Emily! We’re so glad to hear you had such a great first tour experience and got to explore both the iconic highlights and some lesser-known spots in Japan. Show moreTrip date: November 2025 - TKTyla· November 21st, 2025I have travelled with OneLife on two separate occasions, and this trip (Japan Essentials - 13 days) was my third tour. Every OneLife tour has blown me away, each offering something unique, but I want to make special mention of my Japan experience. Our tour guide, Daan, went above and beyond to make the trip truly unforgettable. The Essentials tour had the perfect balance of structured itinerary and free time, which allowed for well-needed downtime. There were numerous optional add-ons that could be booked to fill spare moments or explore the area more deeply. Every add-on was a memorable experience, but my favourites were the kimono hire and the sushi-making class. Before arriving in Japan, I was a little worried about the accommodation size and whether there would be enough space for my luggage and to fully open my suitcase. However, every hotel on the tour was very spacious and incredibly comfortable. Each city we visited had its own unique charm. I did not expect to love Hakone as much as I did. It was serene and peaceful, such a refreshing contrast to the busyness of Tokyo. The artistic and tranquil side of Hakone captured my interest immediately, and I would return in a heartbeat. The tour offered the perfect blend of bustling city life and calm rural beauty, allowing us to experience Japan in its entirety. From historical sites and food tours to shopping districts and cultural activities, this tour truly had everything. There is something for absolutely everyone. (P.S. Bring an empty suitcase!) Our group was small, just six people, but that intimacy made the experience even more special. We bonded quickly, shared endless laughs, created inside jokes, and formed friendships that I know will last a lifetime. Most importantly, there needs to be huge recognition for Daan. He was organised, friendly, thoughtful, and genuinely the perfect tour guide. He made travel days effortless, read the group perfectly, and adjusted the pace and vibe so we could maximise our enjoyment. His detailed explanations, local knowledge, and extensive lists of recommendations were invaluable. He was always happy to help with anything, nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you so much, Daan, for making this the best trip of my life. You made my Japan adventure truly significant and unforgettable, and you deserve all the praise and recognition for your hard work.Show more

One Life Adventures commented on this reviewThank you for your review Kim! We're thrilled to hear your first group tour was such a positive experience. Thank you for choosing to travel to Japan with us!Trip date: May 2025 - DMDannii· May 23rd, 2025I had an incredible experience on the 13-day Japan Express tour. The itinerary covered all the major sights I had hoped to see, yet still allowed enough time in each destination to truly soak in the local culture and atmosphere. Our guide, Jordan, was fantastic—always approachable, quick to respond, and genuinely helpful throughout the trip. He was flexible with the group's preferences, offering thoughtful suggestions for meals, activities, and even optional stops. His local knowledge really enhanced our experience (and he wasn't afraid to serenade us at karaoke!) Accommodation overall was solid, and we enjoyed most of the hostels. While the Tokyo hostel felt a bit basic and somewhat worn in places, the amenities across the board were generally excellent and met our needs. One suggestion for improvement would be to include more detail about the amount of free time available in each location in the pre-trip itinerary. The amount of downtime varied quite a bit, and having that information earlier would have made it easier to plan and pre-book activities.Show more

Asked on April 3rd, 2025Is the departure date confirmed? What happens if you are not able to fill all the spaces, would the tour still start on the same date? If I want to join the group tour with departure date of 1st june, what time do I need to arrive at the accomodation?
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written April 2025This tour is currently a guaranteed departure! And we would expect to see more spaces fill over the next few weeks. The tour itself will commence around 6pm where you will meet up with your fellow travellers ready for your welcome dinner. It will take around 1 hour to get from the airport to the first accommodation using Japan's reliable public transportation system.

Asked on March 30th, 2025Is this ok for someone 40 years old on a tour with age cut off at 39?

Asked on March 13th, 2025How many people have booked this trip for June 1st? How many people (on average) are on the trips? What are the average ages of group members and tour guide? How will luggage be handled? I am planning on adding days to the beginning and end of this tour. Is that alright?
- C
Clare
Traveler•Written March 2025What are the reviews of the hostels? Are they 2 stars? There are no detailed customer review breakdowns like other tours have. Do you have any customer reviews about this tour specifically?
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written March 2025We do currently have 4 people booked on board this departure, with surrounding dates already having over 10 guests booked! In 2024, our tours commencing around your selected date went ahead with an average group size of 13. The average age is currently 22 years old. Our Japan Essentials tour tends to see an average age of around 28 once the tour commences, this can differ from group to group. We would highly recommend bringing no more than 15kg on this trip, and bringing a backpack instead of a suitcase if you can. The luggage limit on the Shinkansen (bullet train) is very strict. Bags over 160cm cannot be accommodated. We do offer pre night accommodation that can be added to your booking at the checkout, this will be at the same accommodation that we use for the first night on tour.

Asked on January 11th, 2025Can I please ask can I do this tour solo? and does this include flights? or is it only the tour for 13 days?
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written January 2025Of course you can, we do in fact see a lot of solo travellers join our group tours! In fact, over half of our travellers tend to be travelling solo. The prices of our tours do not include international flights as we understand that each and every traveller has their own travel preferences when it comes to flying, for example, seating arrangements, flight times, airlines.

Asked on December 29th, 2024When looking at the hotel accommodations, it looks like a large portion of sleeping arrangements are through hostels. My wife and I are traveling together and would like to know if there are options to have sleeping arrangements made where we would not be sharing a room with other people.
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written January 2025Our Essentials tour is the budget friendly choice for a Japan adventure, hostels are used each night to keep costs down, as well as less inclusions and more free time. We do in fact have an award winning Classic tour that does offer upgraded accommodations throughout the whole trip, with most being twin share hotel rooms, you will even get the opportunity to stay in a temple! Our Classic tour does also focus more on inclusions, with not much free time.

Asked on November 29th, 2024We are two friends and would like to book this tour. Only problem is we will be 41 years old at the time - would that be a problem?

- D
Denise
Asked on November 28th, 2024Can I book flights through you?
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written November 2024As just a tour operator, we do not assist with booking international flights as we understand each and every traveller has their own preferences when it comes to flying. Our tour commences at 5:30pm on day 1 where you will meet up with your fellow travellers ready for your welcome dinner, I would recommend landing lunch time or morning to ensure you make it to the meeting point ready for this activity, however fear not, the welcome dinner is not compulsory as we do understand that some people wont be landing until the evening.

Asked on November 7th, 2024what is the difference between these 2 tours Japan 13 days and Japan 14 days
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written November 202413-day Essentials tour is our more budget version trip of Japan, with a perfect balance of free time along with pre organised activities. Stays will be in hostels and multi share dorm rooms, shared with other travellers from your tour group. 14-day award winning Classic tour focuses more on inclusions with an action packed itinerary and less free time. Accommodation will be upgraded, staying in a mixture of twin share hotel rooms, pod style dorms and unique temple stays.

Traveler•Written January 2025Both tours end in Hiroshima so I need to make my way to Osaka, correct.
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written January 2025We do have an age requirement of 18-45 as we do see most travellers be aged between 21-39, however as long you are comfortable with that then we welcome you with open arms!
One Life AdventuresOperator•Written January 2025We do offer a return train back to Tokyo from Hiroshima on the day that the tour comes to an end. If you would like to travel to Osaka from Hiroshima, a train ticket can be purchased upon arrival in Japan from English speaking kiosks, our tour guide can assist you with this if needed.
