You'll land at Cape Town airport and get picked up by a representative who helps with your rental car setup. From there, the rest of the day is yours to wander through the city on your own terms. Cape Town
Head out early with your choice of Table Mountain or the Cape of Good Hope to explore. Later in the afternoon, make your way to Camps Bay or Long Street where the cafe scene picks up as the sun starts to set. The rooftop terraces here are where everyone gathers for that famous Cape Town sunset view.

Cape Town to Franschhoek
After leaving Cape Town behind, drive to Franschhoek in the wine country. The main street has everything lined up - arts and crafts shops, chocolateries, cheese shops, and plenty of places to grab food and drinks. You've got the afternoon and evening to explore at your own pace.

Franschhoek
Spend time exploring what Franschhoek offers during the day. You can try the local food scene and check out the different culinary spots, or head to the automobile museum on the L'Ormarins wine estate if that interests you more. Head back to the hotel as evening arrives.

Franschhoek to Hermanus
A short drive gets you to Hermanus, a nice town with sand beaches, markets for arts and crafts, and galleries throughout. The place is known for whale watching between July and November. You can also hike in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve or walk along the cliff path if you're up for it.

Hermanus
This day is completely yours to do what you want. If you're interested, take a trip out to Cape Agulhas, which is the southernmost point of Africa, then come back to your hotel. Otherwise, just relax around town and take it easy.

Hermanus to Knysna
Move on to Knysna, a place known for oysters. The lagoon setting here is really something, and you can either just kick back or get out on the water with a boat trip to the Knysna Heads or Featherbed Nature Reserve if you want more action.

Knysna
Spend the day checking out the region around Knysna. You can head over to Oudtshoorn to see one of the ostrich farms, or go underground to explore the Cango caves. After whatever you choose to do, drive back to Knysna for the night.

Knysna to Addo Elephant National Park
Leave Knysna and drive toward Tsitsikamma National Park where the landscape gets rugged with mountains and coastal views. From there, continue on to Addo Elephant National Park. Depending on how the drive goes, you might get time to check out the Storms River estuary before finding your accommodation.

Addo Elephant National Park
Spend the day driving around Addo Elephant National Park in your rental car and doing game viewing. You'll see elephants and plenty of other wildlife throughout the park as you make your way around.

Addo to Durban
Drive to Gqeberha Airport to return your rental car, then catch a domestic flight to King Shaka Airport in Durban. Pick up a new rental car once you land and drive to Salt Rock where you'll stay for the night.

Salt Rock to iSimangaliso Wetland Park
Leave the city behind and drive to iSimangaliso Wetland Park on South Africa's east coast, a World Heritage Site. This place is the second largest protected area in South Africa and offers some unique natural experiences you won't find many other places.

iSimangaliso to Eswatini
Drive out of South Africa and head into the Kingdom of Eswatini. Before settling into your accommodation, take some time to walk through one of the traditional markets and get a feel for the local culture and goods.

Eswatini to Kruger National Park
Leave Eswatini and head back into South Africa, continuing on to Kruger National Park. As you drive toward the rest camp, you can already start watching for wildlife. Later, if you want, go on a game drive in an open safari vehicle to see what's around.

Kruger National Park
Start your day early because this whole day is about game viewing in the bush. You can take a bush walk with a guide if you want, and then the rest of the time is yours to do as you like around the rest camp.

Kruger National Park to Schoemanskloof
Drive away from Kruger and head to Schoemanskloof. If hiking appeals to you, there's plenty to explore in the Crocodile River valley with some good trails in the area.

Panorama Route
See the Panorama Route with all its spectacular views. Stop by the Blyde River Canyon to take in the Three Rondavels and God's Window, where you can see the Lowveld stretching out about 700 meters below. The small town of Graskop nearby has places to eat. Head back to your hotel after.

Early on, leave this scenic region and drive to Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa. It started as a gold mining town back in the 1800s and later became home to important historical figures. The township of Soweto holds the history and stories of people like Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela.
