- KMKaren· October 27th, 2025We had such a wonderful time on this tour. We saw so much of Japan and the tour guide Jamie was exceptional. He gave us great tips on culture and helped with some essential language tips. He was fun and very well supported by Kaneko who went ahead and purchased tickets so we moved through busy attractions with ease. The bus driver Yamamoto-san was just incredible as well. The Ninja experience and dressing up as Sumo was an extremely fun day. I highly recommend doing this. The open air museum and shirakawa-'goShow moreTrip date: October 2025

Asked on September 22nd, 2025I was trying to book the tour for this tour for the 27th April 2026, but have been advised that unless i want to share with someone there is no single option for it, ideally that is the date that i would like to go but can you advise me what tours that are late March, all of April and beg of May is there a single accommodation for any of those dates
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written September 2025The single supplement upgrade for a private room is indeed available only in limited slots as an add-on. If this option is sold out, the default price is based on a twin-share room, and as a solo traveler you would be paired with another solo traveler of the same gender. Upon checking, for March and April 2026 departures, the only date that still has an available private room is 4 April 2026.

Traveler•Written September 2025Can you please check for May and June 2026 please
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written September 2025All available travel departures in May and June 2026 for this tour still has Single Supplement Upgrades available.

Asked on September 15th, 2025What is the single supplement?
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written September 2025The single supplement is an additional cost that allows solo travelers to have their own private room throughout the tour, rather than sharing on a twin-share basis with another traveler. This option is entirely up to you and can be selected at the time of booking, subject to availability.

Asked on September 9th, 2025I was having trouble logging in. I am just in such a quandary as to what tour to book; my grandson decided that he didn't want to go so I'll be booking for just me and my granddaughter. I'm really not wanting for us to be changing hotels every night. And not wishing to be on a bus for hours. Now, I found a tour that was I think 11 or 12 days and used trains to go from city to city and stayed in hotels for more than one night. But I lost my internet connection and now can't find it. It was about 3,700. Do you possibly know which one it was? (the photo was a geisha) I'm going to keep trying because it had so much, plus daily breakfasts. I would really appreciate your assistance.

Traveler•Written September 2025Could you please confirm if a triple room option is available? If not, is there an option for connecting rooms?
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written September 2025We unfortunately do not offer triple rooms, as our tours operate on a twin-share room accommodation policy. In addition, since your grandchildren will be minors, they must each be accompanied by an adult. This means that with three travelers, one minor would be left without an adult companion. For odd-numbered travelers, the standard option is either to purchase a single supplement upgrade for a private room or to be roomed with another solo traveler of the same gender. However, this second option is not applicable to minors. Because of this, we would require that you have another accompanying adult on the tour to ensure both minors are paired with an adult.
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written September 2025Based on your inquiry, it seems that this is the trip you're referring to. If you have any questions or require further details about this trip, please feel free to click on the "Contact Operator" button directly on the trip page. This will allow you to communicate directly with the tour operator for specific information or assistance.

Asked on September 4th, 2025I left a message with you concerning your tour and asking if I could get a triple room for me and my two grandchildren (14& 16) I neglected to tell you when we will be traveling… it would be July of 2026; I do hope this will work as your tour sounds wonderful !
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written September 2025We unfortunately do not offer triple rooms, as our standard is twin-share accommodation with two people per room included in the pricing. A third or odd-numbered traveler would either need to be roomed with another solo traveler of the same gender or opt for the single supplement upgrade for a private room. Since your group includes minors, please note that a minor must always be accompanied by an adult and cannot be roomed alone or with a stranger, so for your group of three it would be ideal to have one more adult join the tour.

Asked on August 17th, 2025Has the hotel in Tokyo been chosen yet?
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written August 2025Most of the hotels we use (for our Japan tours) are part of our contracted partners and usually end up being the same as the finalised ones, but please note they are still subject to change. The final and confirmed hotel list will be included in your Tour Leader Announcement (TLA), which is emailed to you between 10–5 days before departure.

Asked on July 16th, 2025My wife and I are interested in a Japan tour for about 13 days between mid August to mid September 2025. We enjoy modern architecture, vegetables and fruit farm visits, lovely scenery, abundant flowers scenery, flower garden visits, pick your own farm visits, grocery visits, city night life visits, archeological site visits, etc. We would like to travel on the high speed train, walk in Tokyo (busy crossing) and other cities also. Any additional attractions would be welcome. Can you suggest an itinerary and the cost. We would like to start and end the tour in Tokyo.
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written July 2025We currently do not offer customized tours. What we do offer are tours that have a pre-set itinerary and gladly we have one for Japan. You may check the tour details and if you are interested on this tour, you can either place a 48 Hour Hold for any of the available dates offered, or you can book right away.

Traveler•Written July 2025My travel partner was 76 yrs old in June of 2025. When I go to book the tour it's not allowing me as she is a few months over the age limit. We are very familiar with land tours and the physical requirements. Please make an exception for her to join the 13 day tour of Japan.
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written July 2025Our tours are open to all travelers aged 10 and above, provided they meet the general fitness and mobility requirements. As you've mentioned that both of you are confident and capable with the physical demands of a land tour, we'd be happy to welcome you onboard the Highlights of Japan trip.

Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written June 2025This tour includes 12 nights of accommodation in a mix of comfortable 3- and 4-star hotels, selected to offer a great balance of quality and location. Optional excursions: Tokyo+ – JPY 9,000, Wagyu Beef Feast in Osaka – JPY 18,000, An Evening in Kyoto – JPY 20,000, Flavours of Kanazawa – JPY 11,000. Airport transfers are not included, so you'd need to arrange your own transport to and from the starting and ending hotels.

Traveler•Written June 2025is it hard to get from the airports to the hotel you use if we did it ourselves
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written June 2025Getting from the airport to hotel is manageable. Japan's public transportation is safe, clean, and efficient. From Narita Airport: Take Narita Express to Tokyo Station, then taxi or train to Kanda Station. From Haneda Airport: Take Keikyu Line to Shinagawa Station, transfer to JR Yamanote Line to Kanda Station. Taxi is another option but more expensive.

Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written June 2025Unfortunately, we do not offer customizations or extensions as our tours are pre-set. We also don't provide post-tour accommodation bookings, but we'd be happy to share helpful links from our trusted partner so you can arrange this independently. Kindly note that the ending point and hotel details will only be available within 90 days prior to departure.

Asked on May 24th, 2025Is it possible to book Seats and fill in / change names at a later date before making the final payment?
Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written May 2025Yes, you can book this tour under a traveler and can freely ask to change travelers as long as it is more than 60 Days before the tour starts.
