John· March 10th, 2025There is so much to say about Morocco, and this tour does an excellent job of letting you see several cities and the very diverse countryside around it. This tour was perfect for us - We had Ismael who was with us between cities and who gave us space while we were there so we could explore as much or as little as we wanted. This tour does not skimp on accommodations. This tour is reasonably priced. This tour is the tour for you. Idea of cost per day: (February 2025) * DO NOT let cash exchanges give you 200's - ask for small denominations * 1 espresso is 10 dirham * A proper tip for a porter is 10-15 dirham * 1 dinner of tagine can be as low as 12 dirham and as much as 30 dirham * Shawls are 70 dirham (rabat), and some vendors will price at 150 dirham for the same product. We successfully bought 3 shawls at once from a vendor for 150 dirham. * a 3 meter by 2 meter rug is 20,000 dirham * a prayer rug (small) is about 200 dirham * a leather jacket is roughly 4,000 dirham * a taxi generally costs 10 dirham per minute On day 1 - We were picked up from Tangier by Ismael, and he stayed with us the entire time. We drove through the Rif mountains on our way to ChefChaouen while having good conversation. The land is verdant and the drive is easy. ChefChaouen is a beautiful city of blue on a mountainside. Expect your calves to hurt if you are not used to hills. We stayed at La Petite Chefchaouen which was a wonderful Riad with private rooms, very good breakfast, pleasant hosts, and a great view of the city. On Day 2 - We left ChefChaouen and drove to the roman ruins of Volubilis (requires entry fee of 20 dirham per person if I remember correctly). Ismael stopped by the road and bought oranges which were the best I've had in my entire life. Florida has nothing on these oranges. The ruins had a guide to explain what we were looking at and the importance of the structures. We drove through Meknes and saw the tomb of a prior emporer along with key architectural structures in the city. We ended the day at the Riad Fez Mahal. Riad Fez Mahal is a step up from the stay on day 1. Omar is easy to talk to and full of life. I regret that I did not get to eat any of the tagine he made. It was by far the best smelling dish of the entire trip. Great breakfast, beautiful rooms, and an even better view than the night before. Day 3 - We toured the medina with Isam, who was knowledgeable and incredibly savvy. He was there for every question we had and we couldn't let him go without hosting a lunch for him. Be wary of the tannery if you are unable to handle tough smells. Go right to the gift shop if you cannot handle smells. Day 4 and 5 were speedy - We visited Rabat and stayed at Riad Kalaa. I can tell you this tour package does not skimp on Riads. Absolutely stunning inner courtyard. Pool on the second level. Open air rooms. Great breakfast. Be sure to visit the coastal fortress by the Riad. Finally we drove home and stopped by the city of Asilah, which was a charming place to see by the sea.Show more John· March 10th, 2025There is so much to say about Morocco, and this tour does an excellent job of letting you see several cities and the very diverse countryside around it.
