Marrakech to Aït Benhaddou
You'll leave Marrakech heading east toward the desert, climbing through the High Atlas mountains where you can see Mount Toubkal in the distance. The drive takes you past traditional Berber villages scattered across the landscape. After stopping for lunch in Taddert, you'll continue on to Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed kasbah. In the evening once the day-trippers have left, you can walk through the historic old town or climb up to the rooftops if you want those panoramic views overlooking everything.

Aït Benhaddou to Zagora
Starting after breakfast, you'll travel eastward through the Jebel Sarhro mountains by way of Tizi-n-Tinififft pass and Agdz. The route takes you through the Draa River valley where palm groves stretch out in dense clusters. You'll pass through villages as the landscape opens up, and by late afternoon you'll reach Zagora. The town is known for its date cultivation, and you can spend some time exploring the local markets and getting a feel for how important the date harvest is to the region.

Zagora to Merzouga
From here you're heading toward Erg Chebbi desert through the Draa valley, stopping through Benizoli, Tazarine, and Ait Atta villages in the Anti Atlas region. Lunch happens in Alnif, and after eating you'll continue to Rissani where there's a market worth checking out plus the historic Moulay Ali Cherif gate. From there you'll cross into Erg Chebbi itself and reach your camp positioned at the foot of the Merzouga Sahara, which gives you that real desert arrival experience.

Merzouga Desert Experience
Following breakfast, you'll take a 4x4 tour to Khamlia, an African village where you can watch locals perform traditional desert music. There's a chance to see how medfouna, a local specialty dish, gets prepared. Later in the afternoon you'll go on a camel ride into the Sahara Desert itself, and you'll finish the day camping under the stars where the night sky is really something else out there.

Merzouga to Tinghir
Get up early to catch the sunrise from the top of the dunes, which is worth the early start. You'll return to the auberge by camel after having breakfast there. Then you're traveling to Todra Gorge, which is genuinely one of Morocco's most remarkable natural features. The gorge cuts deep through the mountains, and you'll take a short walk through it to see the scale of it up close. By evening you'll settle in at Tinghir for the night.

Tinghir to Ouarzazate
After breakfast you're heading toward Ouarzazate, passing through Boumalne Dades along the way. That route shows you ruined kasbahs, cliffside ksars, and rock formations that make the landscape really distinctive. The mountain scenery builds as you travel, and when you arrive in Ouarzazate you'll find it's a city that blends historical elements with modern development in an interesting way.

Ouarzazate to Marrakech
In the morning you'll explore the Glaoui Kasbah at Telouet, then cross the Tizi n Tichka mountain pass which offers dramatic views of the High Atlas Mountains stretching out in all directions. The return drive to Marrakech takes you through mountain landscapes that change as you descend. This final day wraps up your week-long journey through Morocco's different regions, from the desert back to where you started.
