Itinerary

Hanoi to Ninh Binh
Your hotel pickup happens early morning for the drive out to Ninh Binh province. Once you arrive, you'll walk through Hoa Lu, the ancient capital, to get a sense of Vietnamese history and the old structures there. After that, lunch is a buffet with local specialties, so you'll try some regional dishes. The afternoon brings a 1.5-hour bamboo boat ride through Tam Coc's cave system and surrounding paddy fields, which gives you time to take in the landscape and the water. From there, you cycle through nearby villages to see how people live in the area and get a feel for daily life outside the main sites. Before heading back to Hanoi, you'll tackle the 500 steps up Mua Cave, which takes some effort but gets you views across the region from the top.
