- SSteveLloyd· September 5th, 2019As a just-retired, seriously out-of-shape nearly-63 year-old, after signing on for a 5 day/4 night 'Top End' tour from Canada I considered forfeiting the past-refundable cost almost up to departure. In striving to prepare over a short time-frame one knee in particular had gone sideways and it all just seemed too daunting. Well it nearly was. To see about 3/4 of the sights on the packed-in tour I was pushed fairly hard (says the rather decrepit ex-rugby player) - not by our excellent and accommodating guide Ken, but by what would have been missed otherwise. An amazing adventure it was, even having to sit out smaller parts of it. Just as important to me: as an educator who has worked with and for indigenous peoples in British Columbia for several decades, the leadership and wisdom shared by Dugmul and later Mundaydyedye was inspiring. Just as inspiring was the genuine respect shown both men and their traditional knowledge by our guide and by fellow participants. It hit all the notes that might give us hope for our kids and grandkids. If you can walk, appreciate nature and culture, and can manage a semi-'glamping' more-or-less cooperative lifestyle for a few days: go.Show moreTrip date: August 2019

Asked on March 19th, 2025I would need power for my CPAP machine. I see there is an additional fee for solo travels. Does that mean that I would be in a tent by myself? Do you require any doctor forms? Other than a CPAP machine, I do not take any medications snd am not in a doctor's care for anything.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written March 2025
The additional fee for solo travelers is for a single supplement, which allows you to have your own tent. If you do not purchase this, you would be sharing a twin-share tent with another traveler. We do not require any doctor's forms for participation, but it's always a good idea to consult with your doctor before joining an active trip after checking the physical rating for the tour.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written March 2025
Our team in destination has advised that bringing a CPAP machine will not be an issue. There will be power available throughout the tour.
