Itinerary
- Day 1
Niokolo Koba National Park
You'll start before dawn and drive through the savannah toward Niokolo Koba National Park. Once you arrive at the Wassadou Hotel on the Gambia River bank, drop off your bags and get settled. After that, you have options for the afternoon, either taking a boat trip to look for hippopotamus colonies or going on a guided walk along the river where you'll have chances to see monkeys, birds, monitor lizards and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

Niokolo Koba National Park to Kedougou
Wake up while it's still dark for a guided game drive through Niokolo Koba Park. Throughout the morning you'll look for warthogs, monkeys, antelopes, various birds, and if you're lucky, panthers and lions. Once the drive wraps up and you've had a picnic lunch, head to Mako for a walk along the Gambia River searching for hippos. From there you'll continue on to Kedougou, arriving in the evening.

Kedougou to Tambacounda
Today you'll visit the traditional village of Bedik Lwol, home to the Bedik ethnic group and located high up in the hills. Then trek to the Peulh village of Dindefelo before hitting the trails that wind through scenic areas with small streams. The paths eventually lead to an 80 meter waterfall that drops into a basin where you can swim. You'll have a picnic at the waterfall's base, then drive to Tambacounda later in the afternoon.

Tambacounda to Saly
Drive to the connected villages of Joal and Fadiouth. Joal is the birthplace of Senegal's first president, Leopold Senghor, and sits on the main island. Fadiouth is on a small island reached by walking across a long wooden bridge constructed entirely from oyster shells and shells that have accumulated over centuries. After exploring both villages, continue on to Saly.

Saly to Dakar
After breakfast, head to Bandia safari reserve, one of the major attractions in the area near Dakar. You'll do a game drive through the sanctuary to see the wildlife, then move into Accrobaobab adventure park where you can do tree climbing and other outdoor activities throughout the park. In the late afternoon, you'll be dropped off at the airport for your onward journey.
