Itinerary
- Day 1
Whitehorse
You'll arrive in Whitehorse and connect with your German-speaking tour guide at the airport. From there it's a transfer to your hotel where you'll meet the rest of the group and get settled in for the journey ahead.
- Day 2
Whitehorse to Skagway
This morning starts with a tour of Whitehorse including the restored MS Klondike paddle steamer. Then you'll drive south on the Klondike Highway toward Skagway, stopping at scenic spots like Carcross Desert and Emerald Lake along the way. Later you'll hike part of the Chilkoot Trail, and if you're interested, there's an option to visit a historic gold rush bar that evening.

Skagway to Haines Junction
You'll explore Skagway's gold rush history and hike in the surrounding area. After that, a ferry takes you through Lynn Fjord where you might spot sea otters, puffins, sea lions, or whales. From there it's a road journey through Haines past the Bald Eagle valley and across the coastal mountains to Haines Junction.

Haines Junction
Today you'll spend the day hiking in Kluane National Park, Canada's largest national park with the world's largest contiguous glacier area. The Sheep Mountain trail is one of the most spectacular options, overlooking Kluane Lake where you might spot the shy, snow-white Dall sheep in their natural habitat.

Haines Junction to Whitehorse
Another hiking day in Kluane National Park starting with the Auriol Trail, a shorter four-hour loop through beautiful scenery. By early evening you'll head back to Whitehorse via the Alaska Highway, which takes about two hours.

Whitehorse to Dawson City
You'll visit the longest wooden salmon staircase in the world and check out the Beringia Center museum with its ice age history and prehistoric animal exhibits. Then you'll drive north on the Klondike Highway to Dawson City, passing the Yukon River multiple times and viewing the Five Finger Rapids.

Dawson City to Tombstone Mountains
This morning you'll drive up the famous Dempster Highway, a 730-kilometer gravel road that's the only road connection to Inuvik at the Arctic Ocean. You'll hike in the Tombstone Mountains area with its unique tundra and mountain landscape, where the black basalt mountains create a landscape that looks almost otherworldly.

Dawson City
You'll explore Dawson City, located at the mouth of the Klondike River, visiting Bonanza and Eldorado Creek. Later you'll climb Midnight Dome for an overview of the town and wander through Dawson's historic buildings. When evening comes around, you can visit Diamond Tooth Gerties with its casino and cancan dancers.

Dawson City to Alaska
After crossing the Yukon River by ferry, you'll travel on the 'Top of the World Highway', one of North America's most spectacular high altitude roads. You'll drive through alpine plateaus with boreal forest and tundra, crossing the highest Canada-USA border at Little Gold Creek and passing through uniquely named towns like Chicken and Jack Wade Camp.

Chicken to Denali National Park
You'll drive west along the Denali Highway past spectacular wilderness panoramas heading toward Denali National Park. This wilderness route isn't the typical approach to the park. Later there's an optional glacier flight available, roughly one hour long.

- Day 11
Denali National Park
A park-owned shuttle bus takes you deep into one of North America's most scenic landscapes. Weather permitting, you'll get views of Mount McKinley, the highest peak in the USA at 6,193 meters/20,310 feet. Watch for wolves, Dall sheep, moose, caribou, and grizzly bears throughout the day as the shuttle returns you to the park exit by evening.

- Day 12
Denali National Park to Kenai Peninsula
You'll leave Denali and head south via the George Parks Highway, passing through Anchorage and driving along Turnagain Inlet where you might spot white beluga whales. Then it's on to the Kenai Peninsula, an area known for its lush vegetation.

Seward
You have several options around Seward. There's hiking in the beautiful area surrounding the town, or you could take a six-hour Kenai Fjords Tour by boat to explore the National Park with excellent wildlife viewing and close encounters with calving glaciers. You can also visit the Alaska SeaLife Center aquarium or check out local restaurants known for excellent fish dishes.

Seward to Anchorage
The morning offers hiking options including the Iditarod Trail, scenic Coastal Trail (tide dependent), historic Fort McGilvary, or Salmon River at Tonsina Beach. In the afternoon you'll travel to Anchorage where you can explore Lake Spenard, the largest seaplane airfield with up to 800 daily flights, visit the Aviation Museum, or relax and shop before heading home.
