Oslo to Valdres
An express bus departs from Oslo and carries you through mountainous terrain, past valleys and rural farmland to reach Valdres in central Norway. The route winds through some nice scenery, and you'll have access to free WiFi, power outlets with USB chargers, and onboard facilities throughout the journey.

- Day 2
Valdres Hiking
You'll drive through the forested Murudalen valley on a gravel road, passing rivers and the small village of Skåbu along the way. The route takes you to Ruten Fjellstue in Espedalen near Bjørnsonvegen, an area locals call Elgland because of its large moose population. Your lodge has its own brewery on site.

Landmarks Murudalen Valley Skåbu Espedalen - Day 3
Espedalen to Jotunheimen
Starting from Espedalen, follow Jotunheimvegen as it climbs from the wooded valley toward Jotunheimen's fells above the tree line. Along the way, you'll pass several summer farms and follow the shores of the large lake Vinstra, with Jotunheimen's mountains and Bithorn summit visible in the distance. Check in at Bygdin Hotel, a traditional historic lodge right beside Bygdinvannet lake where the M/Bitihorn boat docks, and they're known for serving good local food.

Landmarks Lake Vinstra Jotunheimen Bithorn Bygdinvannet Lake - Day 4
Jotunheimen to Tyinkrysset
Spend the morning relaxing or take an optional hike to nearby peaks like Sysnhorn (1457m/4,780 ft), which has an easy-to-follow trail with fantastic views of Jotunheimen. In early afternoon, board the historic M/B Bitihorn for a 1.5 hour cruise across Lake Bygdin to Eidsbugarden, then walk the trail along Lake Tyin with chances to detour into Koldedalen for closer views of mountains like Falketinden and glaciers. Cycle down the paved road to Filefjellstuene at Tyinkrysset where you'll stay in comfortable apartments.

- Day 5
Tyinkrysset to Beitostølen
This is one of the toughest days on Mjølkevegen. Cycle the main road and the historic 'Kingsroad' down to Lake Vangsmjøse, then shift to a gravel road following the shoreline with views of steep slopes and waterfalls. The biggest climb takes you to Slettefjell at 1315m/4,314 ft, the tour's highest point, followed by an easier descent into Beitostølen. Stay at the centrally located Radisson BLU Mountain Resort, which sits near the bus stop and local shops and services.
