Itinerary
- Day 1
Santorini to Naxos
You'll arrive at Santorini airport this morning and head straight to the port for your ferry to Naxos. The crossing takes about 2.5 hours, with departure around 15:30. Once you reach Naxos harbor, someone will pick you up. If time allows before the ferry, try walking from the port into Chrisostomos town, which takes roughly 1.5 hours and gives you a first look at the island's character.

- Day 2
Naxos
Take a taxi or hop on a public bus heading to Chalki in the Tragea highlands. From there you'll hike through fertile terrain dotted with ancient olive groves, some dating back over 1,000 years. The route passes the Venetian fortress of Ano Kastro and a marble quarry where you'll see an unfinished 6th-century BC statue of Kouros. The hike finishes in Melanes village, then a taxi or bus ride gets you back to your hotel.

Naxos
After a short transfer to Kynidaros, you'll start hiking toward Eggares village. Along the way, you'll see several small churches and two restored olive presses, one dating back to 1885. Once you reach Eggares, grab lunch at a taverna in the village square. Before heading back, check out the olive press in the village itself. You can make your way back to the hotel on your own from there.

Landmarks Eggares - Day 4
Naxos
A taxi or public bus takes you to Filoti at the foot of Mount Zas, also called Mount Zeus. The hike up to the summit rewards you with fantastic views across the island. On the way down, you'll pass through fields and by a monastery before reaching Apiranthos, one of Naxos's largest villages. Stop at a café to rest and refuel, then catch a taxi or bus back to the hotel.

Naxos to Santorini
Spend your morning in Naxos town exploring the castle and museum, or relax on the sandy beach at Agios Georgios if you prefer. The hotel bus takes you to the port for your 13:00 ferry back to Santorini, a crossing of about 2.5 hours. The journey through the ancient volcano's flooded crater offers incredible views of steep colored cliffs and whitewashed villages. You can walk along the caldera from Akrotiri or visit the excavation site there if you want something extra.

Santorini
Head by taxi to Perissa and begin hiking up a zigzag path to a mountain saddle, one of the few areas that survived the volcanic eruption. Here you'll find ancient Thira, which served as the island's capital during Roman times, with views that justify the effort. The descent follows an old path through quiet terrain, passing vineyards and small villages before you finish at Akrotiri village on the black beach.

Landmarks Ancient Thira - Day 7
Santorini
Take the public bus to Fira, Santorini's capital, and spend time walking through the narrow whitewashed streets built on volcanic rock. The museums here worth visiting include the Thera Prehistoric Museum and the Archaeological Museum. In the afternoon, hike the famous trail from Fira to Oia, which offers fantastic views of the lagoon and steep cliffs. Most of the route follows a good, wide mule track. Someone picks you up in Oia for the ride back.

Santorini
Depending on your flight time, take a short walk to the nearby Akrotiri archaeological site, often called the Greek Pompeii. It reopened in 2012 after a long closure. If you have more time, extend the walk to the red beach and black beach, depending on sea conditions, moving through vineyards and terraced fields. On the way back, you'll pass a Venetian fortress in Akrotiri village before returning to the hotel for your airport transfer.
