Gosau
You'll arrive in the Gosau Valley, nestled in the Northern Alps, and check into your accommodation. After settling in and reviewing your travel documents, the afternoon is yours to explore if you're interested. The Panorama Trail winds through the valley with nice mountain views, and it's flexible enough that you can start and stop as it suits you.

Gosau to Gablonzer Hut
Starting from Kalvarienberg in Gosau, you'll follow the Herrenweg trail as it climbs gradually through forests and alpine meadows. Along the way you'll cross small streams and pass several alpine huts, including the historic Zwieselalm where livestock grazes in summer. The route offers panoramic views of the Dachstein Glacier and Gosaukamm peaks before you reach the Gablonzer Hut at 1,522 meters (4,993 feet), located below the distinctive Donnerkogel peaks.

Gablonzer Hut to Goiserer Hut
Take the Gosaukammbahn cable car down to the valley, then catch the public bus through farmland to Gosau-Vordertal. From there you'll hike through forests to Iglmoosalm, passing the Schartenalm with its historic hay barns before climbing another 400 meters (1,312 feet) to the Goiserer Hut. You have the option to visit the Kalmoos Church cave, a secret refuge for Protestants during the Counter-Reformation, or tackle the Hoher Kalmberg summit for views of the surrounding peaks.

Goiserer Hut to Gosau
You'll retrace your route back through Iglmoosalm and follow the Bibelsteig trail back to Gosau, passing dramatic rock towers of the Gosaukamm range that formed 200 million years ago from an ancient coral reef. Your luggage will be at your original hotel, and you can leave whenever you'd like. If you want to add time, the nearby Gosau Lakes are worth seeing; Alexander von Humboldt called them the 'Eye of God.'
