Cologne
You'll arrive in Cologne with the rest of the day ahead of you until your 17:00 departure. The cathedral city gives you time to walk around and see what interests you, whether that's the Dom or just wandering the old town streets. If you're coming a day early, you can settle in at your accommodation and get ready for the Rhine cruise without rushing.

Rüdesheim
You dock in Rüdesheim at 10:00, which gives you about 8 hours to explore this Rhine wine town. Head straight to Drosselgasse, the narrow pedestrian lane packed with wine taverns and shops that really captures the character of the place. Try a Rüdesheimer coffee here, a local tradition that's been made in this town for over a century. You'll need to be back to the ship by 18:00.

Germersheim (Speyer)
The ship docks at Germersheim, and from there you can reach Speyer, one of Germany's oldest medieval towns with a completely planned layout. The main draw is Speyer Cathedral, a High Romanesque structure and UNESCO site that represents some serious architectural history. You have from 08:00 until 19:00 to check it out, so there's plenty of time to see the cathedral and walk around the town.

You arrive in Strasbourg at 07:00, so an early start to the morning. The medieval half-timbered houses are scattered throughout the old city, and you'll find grand palaces mixed in with smaller historic buildings. The cathedral is worth climbing, and from the viewing platform you get a perspective on the whole city laid out below. Before the 18:00 departure, spend time in the squares and along the waterways.

Loreley Valley - Koblenz
You're up early, arriving in Mainz at 06:00. This city has 2,000 years behind it, so there's history in the streets and buildings around you. Later in the day, the ship moves into the Loreley Valley, one of the Rhine's most dramatic sections. You'll dock in Koblenz at 18:30, a city with real age to it, and you can see the Deutsches Eck headland where two rivers meet. The ship leaves again at 21:30.

You're back in Cologne at 05:00, which means an early morning disembarkation. The cathedral city is open to you for more exploration if you want to spend another day, or you can head home. If you've got the time, staying another night lets you move around without feeling rushed and really see what the place has to offer.
