Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Puerto Viejo
You'll land at Juan Santamaria Airport where a representative meets you for the drive to Puerto Viejo. Check-in happens around 3:00 pm, so you'll have the late afternoon and evening to get a feel for the place. Wander through the colorful streets, grab some local food at whatever catches your eye, and if you feel like it, head down to one of the nearby beaches to relax before dinner.

Cahuita National Park Hike
After breakfast, you'll walk about 7 km through Cahuita National Park starting from the Playa Blanca entrance. The trail heads toward Punta Cahuita and takes you along some peaceful Caribbean beaches with calm waters. You'll have chances to see sloths, white-faced and howler monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, raccoons, and blue morph butterflies throughout the hike. The forest is thick with medicinal plants, orchids, ferns, and bromeliads, so there's a lot to look at between wildlife sightings.

Departure from Puerto Viejo
Have your final breakfast at the hotel, then coordinate with them on what time they'll arrange your pickup. A driver takes you back to Juan Santamaria Airport for your onward travel, giving you time to head home or catch your next flight.
