- RBRuth· May 6th, 2025BEST TRIP!!!! Joahann was an amazing guide. Everyday brought new surprises! I was wishing I could go home after 6 days and was surprised when Days 7 and 8 brought a whole new bunch of excitement! So glad it was 8 days - so much to see and do. Highly recommendShow moreTrip date: April 2025
- JBJane· March 14th, 2025This tour was splendid. It covered the geographic, historic and cultural dimensions of Iceland in 8 short days. The pace never felt rushed. The accommodations were comfortable. Highlights for me were 5 consecutive days of Northern Lights, hikes through glaciers, ice caves and lava caves as well as the splendid southern and eastern coasts. A big thank you to our tour guide, John, for sharing his love of Iceland and for capably hauling us around this incredible country. Highly recommend!Show moreTrip date: January 2025

Laure· March 4th, 2025From being a previous traveler to Iceland, and only seeing Reykjavík and the surrounding area the first time, the 8 day tour of my second time circumnavigating this beautiful island is the best way to go. You get to see all the different landscapes from Black Sand Beaches, farmland, mountains, glaciers, geysers, waterfalls, and the Northern Lights all in one trip! - NNnaomi· November 26th, 2024Troll Expeditions requested this review via emailing me at the beginning of the tour. They are a busy crew who have multiple tours on the go at any given time every day and operate from a warehouse in the port area of Reykjavik in Iceland. The experiences offered by Troll are impacted by Icelandic weather, keeping in mind they have hundreds of Icelandic words for their windy conditions! In fact four days of the tour was negatively impacted by the weather. Day 6, and the reason for this review, was cancelled completely and we simply spent the day driving to the next accommodation. Unfortunately Troll will only partially refund the whale watching tour despite the boat operator not requiring payment for their inability to provide the experience due to weather conditions. Furthermore requiring me to reach out through Tour Radar to procure the partial refund. In the past other tour operators I booked through Tour Radar have never even required me to ask for a refund-they simply provided it-but when I didn’t get any communication about the canceled aspect of the tour I emailed Troll Expeditions directly. On day 1 it rained all day and the wet weather gear I rented from Troll for my son was missing the rain hat aspect of the jacket, a functional rain jacket was provided the following day. Another day we rushed through the sights and changed accommodation to stay ahead of a typhoon which meant the following day we spent in the diamond beach car park in a vehicle that lacked charge ports and waited 4 hours for the ice-cave tour operator. The Northern light’s experience are self supplied via walking outside of your accommodation, finding some space that is not affected by town lighting, and looking up at the sky. There is a phone application you can download to be notified of potential Northern Light sightings. We swapped tour guides and some people for day 7 and day 8. Day 7 we had a puncture and the spare tire was flat which meant driving with it until the replacement tire could be obtained, by then it was snowing. Other people on the tour and myself had other interactions with Troll Expeditions customer service staff which don’t reflect well and I would have given this review 3 stars had their customer service and policy reflected a higher regard for us. Finally Iceland is extremely expensive place to eat-meals can cost well over $50 AUD even for soup!Show moreTrip date: November 2024
- PHPetrina· August 1st, 2024What a great trip, weather could have been better but we still enjoyed it. Palli our guide/driver is an Icelander so had so much knowledge to impart, plus many humorous antidotes. Good selection of passengers, we made some friends for life.Show moreTrip date: July 2024
- CLCelia· February 18th, 2024Fabulous 8 day winter tour round Iceland, packed with adventures and plenty of photo stops. What our customers ask about this tour
The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.- AAlice Asked on September 2nd, 2025Is it possible to bring suitcases larger than 24" on the tour? - AAlice Traveler•Written September 2025What hotels offer collection for the tour?
Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2025- Each person is allowed to bring one suitcase up to 24 inches. You can also bring a small backpack on the bus, and it should fit under the seat or in the upper compartment. We only run minivans, so we don't have enough space in the trunk. Extra luggage must be stored in our office for a fee.
Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2025- We recommend Storm Hotel, Fosshótel Reykjavik, Reykjavik Lights, Hilton Reykjavik Nordica, Grand Hotel Reykjavik, or Oddsson Hotel, as they have direct pick-up at the entrance. If you choose a hotel in the city center, we will pick you up from the nearest bus stop due to road regulations.
- AAlice Traveler•Written September 2025How can we overcome luggage limitations?
Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written September 2025- You can bring your carry on luggage + a backpack inside the tour bus, or bring 1 bigger sized luggage for 2 people.

- CCraig Asked on July 10th, 2025I had a question re the 3 hour glacier hike, I'm 61 and I consider myself fit but can I ask you if it's very strenuous or reasonably easy. Is this tour capped at 20? I don't want a massive tour. Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written July 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written July 2025- The 3-hour glacier hike is considered easy to moderate in difficulty. As long as you can walk continuously for about an hour on uneven terrain, you should be absolutely fine. The tour group is capped at 18-19 participants, so it's a small-group experience, not a large or crowded tour.

- GGregory Asked on April 22nd, 2025Can you please tell me the distances travelled each day during a 7 days iceland bus tour. Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written April 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written April 2025- The estimated travel time per day is about 4 to 5 hours, this is depending on the itinerary each day. If you want to see a more detailed itinerary, I would recommend seeing the tour page on TourRadar.

- TTina Asked on March 24th, 2025Are there opportunity to see northern lights Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written March 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written March 2025- Yes, there is a strong possibility of witnessing the Northern Lights during your trip in October, particularly around your departure date of Sunday, 12 October 2025. The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are generally visible in Iceland from late September to early April, with the highest chances occurring when the skies are dark and clear. October falls within this prime viewing period, and the weather conditions during this time are often favorable for sightings. However, please note that the nature of the Northern Lights is beyond our control, and despite our best efforts in monitoring weather patterns and solar wind activity, sightings cannot be guaranteed.

- KKaren Asked on March 13th, 2025About the 24 inch luggage, how strict is this. We would need to buy new suitcases since ours are bigger. However, in the stores they have 24 inch luggage, but measure out to 25.5 inches including the wheels. Would this be OK? Would would have 1 piece for myself and also for my wife. Also we will be 72 and 74 years old, and we have no impediments to travel. Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written March 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written March 2025- The 24 inch luggage size limit does not include the wheels. Please know that we do not measure luggage like at the airport. But we have to set a limit because we are running on minibuses and we have to accommodate all of the participant's luggage. The tour includes a Glacier Hike and Ice cave and both are EASY in terms of difficulty. If you can walk straight for an hour, you should be able to do the tour.

- SSophia Asked on March 8th, 2025Do I need a specific type of clothing for the activities? Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written March 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written March 2025- We recommend water proof clothing and hiking boots for outdoor activities. Other specific equipment can be rented.

- WWendy Asked on January 6th, 2025Does this package include accommodation on the last day of the trip on March 9, 2025? Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written January 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written January 2025- This includes accommodation from 2-8 March. The 9th is the last day.
- WWendy Traveler•Written January 2025can you advise how many people are included in the group? Is it less than 20?
Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written January 2025 Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written January 2025- We only run minibuses, which means a very small group of 18 to 19 participants.
