  Alpaca Expeditions is absolutely the way to go! We did the Lares Trek + Short Inca Trail for a total of 5D/4N and had an INCREDIBLE time! Beautiful views, delicious food, friendly staff/porters. Saul G, our tour guide, was the MAN. He was so knowledgeable, welcoming, and fun! Our trip consisted of hiking through a mountain pass for the first 3 days, then joining the Inca Trail for 2 days. And of course ending at beautiful Machu Picchu! This company is also commendable for all its social initiatives. It empowers women by hiring female porters/guides, employs a local doctor to help with porter health, and was the only company to support its workers during the pandemic when tourism was down. The current boss was a former porter, so he really cares about every member of the company! All in all 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  Overall a great trek, even in the rainy season. Clouds added to the mystique of the landscape and we did not get rained on too much. The camping was very comfortable and the food was great, and we took comfort from the oxygen and the rescue horse although we did not need to use them. Alpaca Expeditions also offered a cooking class on the trek, which was fun. Machu Picchu was wonderful to see, and our guide explained a lot of the history to us. Pros: beautiful trek, interaction with local villages, and not too difficult (although note the high altitude!). Guide was knowledgable and passionate about Inca history. Cons: there is travel time between locations so we did some things that were not strictly trekking or visiting Machu Picchu, such as visiting the salt mine.

  It was an amazing tour and an unforgettable experience. The guides were very nice and knowledgeable. Especially Jaime Cusi did a great job. Highly recommended! :)

  I have been on many tours and Saul Palma is by far one of the best there is. Intelligent, humorous, thoughtful. I learned so much on my journey and felt such a spiritual connection to Peru. Definitely a trip that has forever changed my life. Many thanks to Saul Palma for making this such a beautiful journey

  My experience on the Lares Trek with Alpaca Expeditions exceeded my expectations in terms of service, fun, culture, food, and friendships. The knowledge and passion our tour guide, Alvin, felt for his country and heritage was evident in every aspect of our journey. Not only do these tour guides show you the highlights of Peru (i.e., Machu Picchu, Lares Hot Springs), but they immerse you in the culture of its people. We visited homes of locals, ate traditional dishes in remote Mountain taverns, woke up to fresh Coca tea at the base of alpine lakes, wove ichu grass into authentic Quechua bridges, shopped in village markets, and made amazing friendships with the most genuine staff, travelers, and adorable llamas. Each day the meals prepared from scratch by the crew members felt like they should be in gourmet restaurants and blew us away with their culinary skills. Peru's breathtaking views and intimate experiences would not have been the same with any other traveling company. This organization cares about its travelers, staff, and local people. I highly recommend Alpaca expeditions for anyone considering exploring Peru and/or visiting Machu Picchu!!

  I went on the 4-day Lares Trek with my boyfriend. We were a small group and our Tour guide was Javier. Before the hike we were a little worried of whether the altitude might get to us or if we could manage the distance. So we went to the Alpaca Expedition Office to get their advice. One of the managers there explained us everything in detail reassured us that our guide would take good care of us. And that is exactly what happened. During the whole trip we felt safe and cared about so that we were able to be more and more relaxed and really enjoy the whole amazing experience! Our guide was at all times attentive, helpful and so well informed that we could always rely on him. He managed to let the slower ones as well as the faster ones enjoy every part of the hike at the same time. Never before have we experienced such awesome nature, awesome views and delicious food!!!! When chosing the company we would book, we also wanted to make sure that the company's employees received a fair loan and that's what the company is doing. Our group's chef and sous-chef and also the porter are being paid a good loan and are given good equippment by Alpaca expedition. Our suggestions about minor improvements were adressed directly.

  We went on the Lares 4 day trek to Machu Picchu. It was wonderful! Juan Carlos Zuloaga was an incredible guide. He was very knowledgeable and had no problem waiting for us to slowly climb the pass. There were only two of us on the trip; it felt like we were just hanging out with a friend. Cecilio and Walter prepared excellent food for all meals. I don’t think I lost even one pound despite all the exercise. Our porter and mule driver was the hardest working person I’ve ever met! Super cute animals too. I would recommend Alpaca Expeditions to anyone looking for a trek. Worth every penny!

  extremely skilled and professional guide and porters. They are very knowledgeable in navigating the terrain enabling the guest to have a comfortable experience. the food was absolutely amazing the chef went above and beyond. I can't say enough about how great my experience was. truly grateful to them for allowinge to experience the beauty of Peru

  Our guide, chefs, and porters blew any expectations i had out of the water! They were all phenomenal! Robinson, was our guide and he was very knowledgeable about all the local history and cuisine, with near perfect English! Alejandro and his brother prepared us with the best meals I’ve eaten in all of 2020! The porters were very friendly and set up everything flawlessly! Best trip with the best people to end a terrible covid 2020 year!!
