We saw a lot in this 13 country trip over 26 days, however, the trip would have been more enjoyable and less stressful if Expat would have chosen better quality hotels, modified the itinerary so that the group would have arrived at the hotel by 6 or 7 pm instead of 9 - 9:30 pm followed by a 6:30 am breakfast and 7:15 am back on the bus schedule. Expat should identify that participants have to be quite fit, able to walk at a speed of 5 km/3 miles per hour for 1-3 hours on the city orientation tours and have to carry/drag their heavy suitcase up 2 or more flights of stairs because some of the hotels have no elevator or inadequate elevators. The tour leader should also slow down his/her walking speed to avoid falls and loosing tour members during the walk!

Luke is the kind of tour director that every tourist would want to have. He is very knowledgeable about every country we have visited and he has made our adventures fun, enjoyable and interesting. Even during long hours in the bus, Luke knows how to keep us entertained this making traveling easy for us. He is very responsible and always ready to give us information where to go, what places to visit and how to get there during our free time. He is so chill and easy to get along with and so funny! We have tons of good memories with Luke. He is truly an asset for Expat Explorer! They are very very very fortunate to have Luke on their team. He’s one dynamic tour director!

Troy and I were very pleased. We had no problems from start of the planning to the end of the tour. It’s by far the best tour we have experienced ever. The staff that we communicated throughout the planning stage were very helpful and the tour director we had, Luke Watson, is absolutely amazing and fantastic!! Luke is the best!

Troy and I very much enjoyed our tour! It exceeded our expectations. Each day was filled with excitement of visiting a new city or country and experiencing a new adventure. Our tour director, Luke Watson, was fantastic, energetic and informative. He made the long bus rides bearable and made our adventures exciting by giving us a lot of information about the history of the places we visit. He’s excellent in every way- funny, accommodating and helpful. Never a dull moment with Luke Watson. Paulo, our driver, made sure we reach our destinations safely. Nice man! This tour’s the BEST!!

Ultimate Europe 26 day Tour Tour Leader: Luke Watson If your a travel seeker, city wonderer, and history buff with a curious personality I would highly recommend spending a month in Europe with Luke! From day 1 when you arrive in Greenwich, London to day 26 when you arrive back in Greenwich, London you will have a fantastic experience! Every sense comes alive and every moment becomes a memory you won't forget. Having to wake up between 6:30am and 8:00am is totally worth it. There is no reason to sleep in as there is so much to do. I have been on other escort tours in the past and out of all the Tour Director (TD)/Tour Leaders (TL) I have met I would highly recommend Luke as a TD/TL. He has very strong communication skills, leadership skills, management skills, theatrical skills, and has common sense. With Luke, there are only solutions, not problems. He uses observational comedy to get the point across which is a skill many people do not have. A good guide can hold a mic and talk about what is outside the window on a motor coach but an excellent guide knows when to talk, what to talk about and when to shut up. Luke is a natural excellent guide! Tips for USA Travelers: 1.) Bring a months worth of Protein Bars because European meals are the size of the appetizers in the states. Getting a quick bite to eat on your walk is a bit rough since the cities do not have many hot food/sandwich shops/deli's with a thousand options of fresh and hot food to take with you. You can not customize your food in the way you can do in the States. Just keep filling up on food as you go. 2.) If you looking for quality though expensive go shopping in Venice and Paris. You will be thankful that Walmart isn't going to blind you at every corner. 3.) Just do the excursions. This may be your only chance and its worth it. 4.) If you want this trip to be a more of a wild adventure, you can hug the naked statues, go shirtless (ladies too) and stick your body out the train window when riding to the top of Europe in Switzerland, jump into the Berlin fountains, go the Berlin nude clubs, experience the sauna's, do anything you wouldn't do back home ("that's legal"). 5.) Find out when and where Luke is guiding and go on that tour.

  • J

    Judy

    Asked on May 11th, 2025

Does it mean that these free days will not be guided by tour guide?

    Tour Details
    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

Yes, you are correct. On your free days, you will have the day on your own, and there will be no guided tours by the tour leader. However, there are optional excursions available that you can join on those free days. For example, on Day 11 in Rome, you can pre-book the Colosseum & Roman Forum Guided Tour and other optional activities. Most optional excursions can be booked during the tour, but some require pre-booking ahead of time.

    Asked on May 4th, 2025

I have booked this tour and am wondering about visas required/ETIAS. I am from Australia and it appears I don't need visas however the ETIA seems to be coming into effect for the time I travel. Can you please advise

    Visa
    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

As an Australian passport holder, you currently do not need a visa for short stays (up to 90 days in a 180-day period) within the Schengen Area, which covers most countries on the Ultimate Europe tour. Regarding ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) – this is not a visa, but a travel authorisation that will become mandatory starting in late 2026. Since your travel is in 2025, ETIAS will not yet be required, so there's no action needed for your upcoming trip.

    • L

      Liam

      TravelerWritten May 2025

Does that mean there is a country that does require a VISA given you have said "most" as opposed to "all"?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

As an Australian passport holder, you currently do not require a visa for any of the countries included in the Ultimate Europe tour. However, please note that visa regulations can change, and since we are not a licensed visa agency, we strongly recommend double-checking with an official visa or travel authority to ensure everything is in order for your trip.

Will there be dates for this tour in September/October 2026?

    Price / Availability
    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten April 2025

There should be September and October 2026 dates for this tour, similar to the dates we have this year. As your requested travel period is still more than a year away, no official proposals have been released yet. We recommend checking back with us in the coming months, as more 2026 departure dates should become available closer to the time.
