I highly recommend this track; it is of medium-high difficulty, but all basic facilities are provided. The food was great, and the guided tour was amazing and really knowledgeable. And a big big plus, always clean toilets

The tour was more than I expected, and Julio Conde, our mountain guide was the perfect person to take us on that journey. He as knowledgeable in every aspect of this the tour, and kept us all feeling safe and in good hands (even thought we are big boys). The food was amazing, restaurant quality, and food portions were more than enough to keep us all very satisfied while out there day after day. The entire staff was professional, courteous, friendly. If I ever get back out for another hike in Peru, I want the same people / team taking care of me again. Thank you Julio for making this experience a magical and life changing experience.

The tour was amazing. We had a smaller, more intimate group and an amazing Guide "Roger" who was very knowledgable of all the areas we journeyed. You could tell he really was passionate about his work and loves what he does. The landscapes were stunningly beautiful and different day to day. The food was amazing and plenty of it thanks to Chef Bertrand and A/Chef Cenobio. I felt completely supported and taken care of. Everything was organized and well operated. I would highly recommend this experience. 5/5.

Absolute a fantastic experience. The food prepared is awesome. Even better than a restaurant. Thanks to our chef Zenovio and sous chef Dario. Despite landslides our horseman, Elicio, was able to bring our luggage to the next checkpoint. An amazing work. And of course our guide Manolo. This is really a wonderful person and a reason on itself to do the trup. Trexperience have a fantastic team working for them. Last thank goes to my personal guide Adrian who guided me very well through Machu Picchu. The knowledge and passion made this visit above expectations

We had an incredible time on the salkantay 5-day tour; the itinerary and experience was amazing and we were sad to leave! Thankyou to our guide Sara who was always kind, helpful and had so much knowledge of the nature and the history! The chefs Esteban and Dario made amazing food and helped in so many other ways as well, I am amazed with the meals you can create on the mountain, so tasty and varied! We would love to come back and do a trek with Sara, Esteban, Dario and the porters again!

Food was always good! Sleeping accommodation was also always good! Sanitary facilities were also good under the circumstances. Hiking route: Day 1: good Day 2: good Day 3: good Day 4: not good. Hike along the tracks can be canceled Fresh water tastes of plastic (very bad) Guide: poor communication Improvement: Introduce the participants at the beginning for a better group feeling; divide the groups into slow and fast if necessary (the fast hikers always had to wait and often cooled down); transparent communication in case of difficulties. Macchu picchu: very good organization: important to start early.

I'm not sure if the entrance to machu pichu is included as it is. I'm confused about the other 2 options. Do you have any insights of how is the weather during the dates that I've selected

    • TreXperienceOperatorWritten July 2025

This package includes your entrance ticket to Machu Picchu. When booking in advance, we usually include Circuit 2, which allows access to most of Machu Picchu's key areas during the guided tour. Once your reservation is confirmed, we will arrange for your access. September is considered the end of the dry season, and the weather is generally stable and favorable for trekking. Expect mostly sunny days with clear skies. Rain is rare during this season.

    • TreXperienceOperatorWritten July 2025

Yes, we do include the Vistadome train for your return journey from Machu Picchu, which offers panoramic windows for the best scenic views. The hotel we typically use in Aguas Calientes is a 3-star property, but we can upgrade to a 4-star option if preferred. Regarding flights: unfortunately, we don't handle flights, so you'll need to arrange those independently.

I am interested in 5 days but not glamping. The primary focus would be Micchu Picchu short Peru experience with to 104km then trek up. To include the vistadome train and Macchu picchu ticket entrance. I am hearing the tickets are sold out. Do you have tickets?

    • TreXperienceOperatorWritten July 2025

Here's a suggested itinerary: Day 1: Arrival in Cusco in the morning - Afternoon City Tour. Day 2: Super Sacred Valley Tour. Day 3: Short Inca Trail. Day 4: Machu Picchu Guided Visit. Day 5: Transfer Out. Please let me know your travel dates so we can check availability—especially for Machu Picchu and 4-star hotel options.

if we are not experienced hikers would this be a suitable experience? Or would it be better to choose another option? (5 day Salkantay to Machu Picchu)

    • TreXperienceOperatorWritten June 2025

The 5-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is one of the most scenic and rewarding routes, but it's also moderately to highly challenging, especially due to the altitude and long hiking days. It can be done by people without hiking experience, as long as you're in good physical condition and up for the adventure. However, if you're looking for something more comfortable or less demanding, we'd be happy to recommend other great options — such as the Short Inca Trail (2 days) or Salkantay trek 4 days to Machu Picchu, which offer a wonderful experience with less intense hiking.

    Asked on June 3rd, 2025

How many people in the tents and the hut? What sleeping bags do you recommend with consideration of how cold at night during the trek? Are there toilets during the camping? Will porters and horseman carry our backpacks for the whole trek? What equipment and clothing do you recommend we bring?

    • TreXperienceOperatorWritten June 2025

For this trek, we provide double occupancy tents (2 people per tent). We recommend a 4-season sleeping bag that can handle temperatures down to -10°C (14°F). We provide clean, private eco-toilets at each campsite. Horses will carry your duffel bag (up to 7 kg or 15 lbs). Recommended clothing includes layered clothing, base layers, fleece or down jacket, waterproof jacket, hiking pants, warm hat, gloves, thermal socks, sturdy hiking boots, daypack, reusable water bottle, sun protection, flashlight, camera, and personal medication.

I am really interested in this hike, but noticed it is not avaliable for the dates that work for me. I was wondering if there is any possibility you'd be able to squeeze an extra person on the hike departing either on the 22nd or 23rd of May 2025, please?

We can still offer you the Salkantay Trek experience without the visit to Machu Picchu on the last available date. Additionally, we can offer you the opportunity to switch and join the 4-Day Inca Trail departure on May 25, where entry to Machu Picchu is still available.
