Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
Your flight arrives in Kathmandu with views of snow-capped peaks the whole way in. Once you land, the support team meets you at the airport and takes you to your hotel. There's time to settle in and have some welcome drinks before your first night.

- Day 2
Kathmandu
A guided tour takes you through Kathmandu's religious and architectural sites. You'll see the largest Buddhist stupa and the most popular Hindu shrine, then head to Patan afterward. There you walk through historic temple squares with architecture from the Malla era.

Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
A 30-minute flight gets you to Lukla, a dramatic clifftop airport where most Everest treks start. After meeting your trekking crew, you head up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a marked trail and reach the village of Phakding by evening.

Phakding to Namche
You cross high suspension bridges over the river and enter Sagarmatha National Park. The trail climbs steeply to Namche, an important trading hub in the Khumbu region. On clear days, you might catch your first view of Mt Everest from Topdada. Later, check out the busy Saturday market in the village.

- Day 5
Namche (Acclimatization Day)
This is a rest day in Namche, a bustling mountain village between giant peaks. You can explore the many lodges, tea shops and souvenir shops at your own pace. Optional hikes include the Khunde Hospital or the Everest View Hotel for sunset views of nearby peaks, or the National Park Centre and Museum above town.

Namche to Dole
You follow the main trail north of Namche on a route that splits from the classic Everest Base Camp path. The climb takes you to a crest with views of Everest and Lhotse, then you pass traders selling Tibetan handicrafts before crossing the Mon La. From there, the trail climbs steeply through rhododendron and birch forests to Dole.

Dole to Machermo
Starting in the valley, you climb steadily as rhododendron forests transition to scrub juniper at higher altitudes. Along the way, you pass summer yak grazing settlements. Great views of Cho Oyu lie ahead, with Kantega and Thamserku behind you. This is a shorter day, so you reach Machermo in time for lunch.

- Day 8
Machermo to Gokyo
You trek on a scenic path to Pangka before descending slightly to follow a river on the west side of the Ngozumpa Glacier. After climbing a steep rocky section into the glacier valley, you pass the first of the holy lakes and continue to the second and third, where Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang reflect in the emerald green water of Dudh Pokhari.

Gokyo Ri
Starting before dawn, you climb steeply up Gokyo Ri from the village. As you go higher, the summits of Everest, Lhotse and Makalu gradually appear. The top offers one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region. If you have energy left, continue north to see the fourth and fifth Gokyo lakes.

Gokyo to Thagnak
Leaving Gokyo, you cross the Ngozumpa Glacier and descend to the second lake before dropping onto the glacier itself, where cairns mark the way. You climb off at Thagnak, a small dwelling, then follow a shallow valley to your lodge for the night.

- Day 11
Thagnak to Dzongla
An early start gets you to Cho La pass at 5420m/17,782ft. The trail continues up the valley, crosses a ridge and an old lateral moraine before scrambling to the rocky pass. You'll get excellent views across the Rolwaling Valley and of Ama Dablam. After navigating the descent across a small glacier, you reach the pastures and village of Dzongla.

Dzongla to Lobuche
You trek along grassy slopes above Chola Tsho lake to rejoin the main Everest Base Camp trail. From there, follow the valley on the west side of the Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche, with a gradual climb into the village. This shorter day gives you time to relax and explore, and the evening view of Nuptse from Lobuche is really nice.

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp to Gorak Shep
A very early start gets you to Gorak Shep and then Everest Base Camp. The trek moves through spectacular mountain scenery with great views of surrounding peaks. You stop for lunch at Gorak Shep before continuing several hours through ice pinnacles and past crevasses of the Khumbu Glacier to the base camp itself. Heading back, take a higher route for dramatic views of the Khumbu icefall and the route to South Col.

- Day 14
Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar to Pheriche
You trek to Kala Patthar at 5554m/18,209ft, one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region, following the Khumbu Glacier. After taking in the views, trek back down to Pheriche for the night.

Pheriche to Tengboche to Namche
This trek is mostly downhill, following the river. After crossing it, you climb back up through birch and rhododendron forest to Tengboche. The views here include Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kantega and Thamserku. Descend to the bridge over Imja River, see water-driven prayer wheels at Phunki Tenga, then trek back to Namche.

Namche to Lukla
You follow the Dudh Kosi river back down to Lukla on your final trekking day. That last evening in the mountains is perfect for a farewell gathering with your Sherpa guides and porters. Try chang, watch Sherpa dancing, and take time to reflect on the trek.

Lukla to Kathmandu
Head to the airstrip early for your flight back to Kathmandu. Once you land, the rest of your day is free. Spend time last-minute shopping and packing, send postcards home, or stroll through Thamel, the major tourist hub in this part of Asia.

Landmarks Thamel - Day 18
Kathmandu (Contingency Day)
This is a contingency day for any Lukla flight delays. Use it to relax and recover from trekking or explore more of Kathmandu's heritage sites. Stroll the streets of Thamel for cultural immersion, visit nearby monasteries, unwind at spa centers, or hunt for souvenirs in local bazaars.

Landmarks Thamel - Day 19
Depart Kathmandu
