  1. Day 1

    Barcelona to Soldeu

You'll arrive at Barcelona Airport by 3pm and connect with your group at Terminal 2B. From there, the drive takes about 3.5 hours heading through the Pyrenees toward the alpine village of Soldeu in Andorra. Once you check into Hotel Soldeu Maistre, there's a short orientation walk before dinner. If your flight gets in early, you could spend time wandering La Boqueria market or walking down Las Ramblas before heading to the mountains.

    Merixtell to Soldeu

Take the public bus to Merixtell, which serves as the religious center of Andorra and home to the sanctuary of the patron saint. From there, you'll walk back to Soldeu following the ancient Cami del Gall trail, marked by a red cockerel symbol along the way. The path gradually descends through mixed woods, crossing over streams and passing waterfalls as you move through the Valira River valley.

  3. Day 3

    Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley

This day focuses on Andorra's only UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley. You'll drive to the hamlet of Saint Miquel d'Engolasers and hike up to the Fontverd refuge where lunch is waiting. After eating, head back down and catch the bus returning to Soldeu. The valley itself is wild terrain where you might spot marmots, bearded vultures, and ptarmigans if you're lucky.

You'll walk upward to the mountain village of Canillo, which sits surrounded by glacial-formed peaks. Canillo has Andorra's tallest church tower and one of its best Romanesque chapels worth seeing. Later, catch the public bus back down to Soldeu.

Shopping is good there too. Or skip the capital and try the Caldea Spa instead. Another option is taking an optional walk to Pessons Lakes, or driving over to Canillo to cross the world's second longest Tibetan suspension bridge.

    • Visit Andorra la Vella - Parliament
    • Visit Andorra la Vella - Romanesque church

The trip was excellent. From the pick-up, transportation to/from hiking trails, daily briefing, hiking itself and meals everything well organised and went smooth. The guide Lucas was very helpful and everyone was well taken care of. Andorra Pyrenees are beautiful and hiking was not too challenge, moderate level so everyone who is relatively fit could follow.

Andorra is a beautiful country. The hiking was amazing. Dago was a good guide. The only problem was the initial meeting. It appears we were all sent different instructions. I arrived at the airport 2 hours early so that I wouldn't miss the meeting. My instructions were to meet the rep (who would be holding an Explore sign) at the exit to Terminal 2B (there are 5 exits!). I walked up and down the terminal for over half an hour (inside and out) and as the time for the meeting arrived and still no sign, I called the number in the instructions. I was told that the rep was there, and I was given a specific meeting spot. When he got to me, he said it was lucky that the bus was late because I would have been marked a no show and would have had to find my own way from Barcelona to Andorra. There was no sign with Explore written on it (he was wearing a jumper that he had taken off and hung over a bag facing the wall). I wasn't the only one that had this trouble. It was a case of mixed communications that could have had a costly and distressing outcome!

Walking in the mountains/upland meadows. All the walks in fact bar the Day 1 walk, which for some part went close to a road and was therefore disappointing.

The scenery itself was the obvious highlight, the walks were excellent in that we were challenged at times but not excessivelly. The guide Michael Vanrapenbusch was exceptional , he looked after everybody very well.
