- Anna· May 27th, 2025Overall it was good. Happy with the tour itineraryShow moreTrafalgar commented on this reviewThank you for being our guest and travelling with us. We hope to host you again.Trip date: May 2025
- Mark· May 17th, 2022if your goal is to see five national parks in rapid succession, this is an ok experience. vast majority of time is spent on bus. rest stops about every 1.5 - 2 hours. very very little time spent at each destination. the weather in early May is dreadful at elevation in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. several of the premier activities were cancelled .... and i suspect are commonly cancelled this time of year. covid precautions were virtually absent .... the standard questions are pursued at the start of the trip, temp is taken on passengers' wrists, and that's about it for the rest of the trip. despite at least three bus boardings daily .... no questions about covid symptoms, covid exposures, or temperature checks are done for the entire duration of the tour. the "wellness" emphasis is marketing .... it has nothing to do with reality. staff wear masks when in aisles of bus, otherwise they do not. first two hotels were dives ..... with substandard food, management, etc.. tour director was knowledgeable but not helpful when several of us had problems with early and late hotels. pre-paid breakfast vouchers were nowhere to be found. i had the impression that the tour itself was taken care of better than the customers. for instance .... it was a "new" bus and we were repeatedly asked to limit our use of the rest room on the bus ... believe it or not, "doing number two" was explicitly and repeatedly discouraged ...... we were repeatedly warned not to bring beverages with creamer on the bus because that was hard to clean up. when important activities were cancelled, flimsy alternatives ("a good tour director has plans b, c, d, e and f") of lesser interest and lesser value were substituted. Any cancellation (and there were several) were " I hope you know this is beyond Trafalgar's control" while good weather was "this isn't my first rodeo, you are so fortunate to have me as tour director". the "wellness director" was pleasant, but his role was trivialized by the tour director .... in reality, he had very little to do other than unloading the suitcases. he occasionally made one pass with a single cleaning cloth through the contact areas on the overhead compartments. i observed no efforts to clean the bannisters, the seats, the handles or any other part of the bus. at least one member of the tour was obviously ill. she was not isolated. as i said i observed no temp checks, no queries regarding illness or exposures, no effort whatsoever to isolate the ill. traveling without being able to bring a "carry on" wheeled bag (doesn't everyone travel with a wheeled carry on" was a real pain. it led to unpacking and repacking and every hotel, to carrying relatively heavy bags, and to the threat of extra fees for roll on carry on's". Trafalgar said this was "the industry standard". several of the couples on he tour were unable to keep up the pace and were relegated to sitting on the bus or staying at the visitor centers in the parks. on the other hand, there were very few moments for independent enjoyment of the parks ..... my two favorites were the geologic wonders at zion national park and the wildlife at yellowstone. i am taking another trafalgar tour in three weeks. i certainly hope the service and experience is better.Show moreTrafalgar commented on this reviewWe thank you for putting your concerns through to us; as this helps our team learn where we are going right and where improvements might be made. Asked on April 22nd, 2025what state is Jackson in? How much hiking is done on trip? Can I get a roommate for cheaper room fare? Is sept a good time to go?
- TrafalgarOperator•Written April 2025
Expect a few hiking will be done on this tour as most of the itinerary involves visits to parks and canyons across the U.S. Yes, we offer twin-share rooms, where the guest will be paired with another traveler of the same gender for the duration of the tour. September is an excellent time to visit U.S. national parks, with mild weather, fewer crowds, and the first signs of autumn colors in some areas.

Asked on January 18th, 2023I would love to see the itinerary by hour so we can see time at each site, travel time in bus, etc. I am unsure if a motor coach trip is for me
- TrafalgarOperator•Written January 2023
Time on the motorcoach varies every day. You could be a less than 30 mins on the coach to as long as 3 hours. However the motorcoach does stop off every so often for guest to use the bathroom and stretch. A day-by-day itinerary including times is not provided until you are on the trip with by your Travel Director.

Traveler•Written January 2023Can I see a daily DETAILED itinerary that includes ALL the times to get on the bus, travel time, time spent at sights, time at lunch etc? The three hours is not accurate since one day requires at least eight hours of constant travel. Also, are you assigned a seat on the bus? Please don't send a brochure I keep getting sent that when I'm asking for a very detailed itinerary of what each day will look like. Thank you.
- TrafalgarOperator•Written January 2023
We do not send itineraries with exact timing because it can change at any point and depends on the variables of your individual trip. The most you will be on the coach is 2 and half to three hours without any kind of stop whether for comfort or for sightseeing. We rotate seats each day, so each guest has the opportunity to have different seats on the coach.

Asked on February 26th, 2022How much time is spent traveling to each site? Is this on a bus? Looks like breakfast and sometimes dinner is provided. How do we get other meals? What times are we typically back at the hotel? We may have a service dog--would this be accommodating?
- TrafalgarOperator•Written March 2022
You travel on our luxury motorcoaches that have power plugs, wifi (when in range), reclining seats and each seat has their own A/C vents. You generally are not on the coach for more than 2-2.5hrs at a time. This trip includes 1 Be My Guest meal, 1 Welcome Reception, 2 Regional Dinners, 8 Breakfasts. For other meals that will be during free time or breaks and the Travel Director is there to make recommendations based on your personal preferences. The times back at the hotel will depend on what is happening each day, there is not a set time and the Travel Director on trip will be able to give more specific timing based on the day's schedule.
