Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Seattle to Lopez Island

    You'll meet in Seattle and catch a complimentary van shuttle to Anacortes, then board a ferry across the Salish Sea heading to Lopez Island. The bike ride takes you through Spencer Spit State Park and past Lopez Village, ending at Fisherman Bay where you'll check into the historic Edenwild Boutique Inn for two nights. Settle in and get ready for island exploring tomorrow.

    Lopez Island

    Spend the day on a clockwise bike loop around Lopez Island starting at Spencer Spit State Park. Head south to Watmough Bay and keep your eyes out for seals along the water, then continue to Agate Beach to hear the waves roll in. You'll catch views of the Olympic Mountains and the San Juan Islands throughout the ride, with quiet roads letting you take it all in at your own pace.

    Ferry over to Orcas Island and shuttle to Moran State Park where you can hike or bike up Mt. Constitution for views across both the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. After that, join a 3-hour whale and wildlife watching cruise to spot what's in the waters around you. By evening you'll ferry to Friday Harbor and check into Friday Harbor Suites for three nights. Dinner is on your own tonight.

You'll head out to Turn Island for a picnic lunch and walk around the island for about a mile. Back in Friday Harbor by afternoon, giving you time to check out the Whale Museum, browse the Art Gallery, or just wander around town. Dinner is your choice again tonight.

    San Juan Island

    Bike San Juan Island on quiet country roads passing through open farmland with water views the whole way. Stop at historic Roche Harbor and then head to American Camp, a national historic park connected to the old Pig War. Lunch happens at Lime Kiln State Park, one of the best orca spots around here, where you can see across the Strait of Juan de Fuca toward the Olympic Mountains and possibly Mt. Rainier on clear days.

Your chartered seaplane flight back to Seattle takes you over Puget Sound and both the Cascade and Olympic Mountains from the air, skipping the traffic on the ground entirely. Grab lunch on your own along the Lake Union waterfront in downtown Seattle, then catch your van transfer to the airport or your hotel.

      Yes, the price of $3,649 is per person and is based on two people sharing a room. All Bicycle Adventures tours include bicycles (choice of a road bike or flat-bar bike, with options to upgrade to an electric-assist bike for just $200), full guide, van and luggage support, plus deluxe lodgings, fine dining, and plenty of extra activities as described on each of the tour pages. You just bring your clothes for cycling and off-the-bike wear, and everything else is included.
