  • Albania: North to South reviewer 1

My wife & I just returned from a 10 days trip with this tour company, here is our honest thought about it: Hotel selection/ below expectation Tour guide (Gino)/ Terrible, see below Communication & Service/ below average Hotels: It was supposed to be 4* based on our agreement, however I'm not sure the 4* was based on which classification standard on those hotels. only one hotel in Vlore I would classify as 4* with good breakfast selection. the rest are poor chooses. Tour guide(Gino): this man totally in the wrong profession & was a waste of money having him with us the entire trip. 1st/ he is very lazy & was quite all the time in the car. once we arrive any site, he will guide us into the entry & talk for 5 minutes then he would say "I will wait for you in the car". not sure what is the point from having him as tour guide then !! 2nd/ he would always mention that we're spending too much time in the sites & being late. even if this true, it's our private tour & paid already so it's our choose if we want to spend all the time in one site, not sure why he was angry about it !! He would also overestimate the time between cities, so we hurry. even though we can see the time needed with traffic on the maps. 3rd/ very rude person, poor attitude & way over his head, made the entire trip uncomfortable. he even mentioned in one time that he is not a "taxi driver" when we asked him to drop us in one location ! in contrast, the other guide Flori who has the most positive reviews here took us to the airport. we learned more about the history of the country in those 2 hours than in 10 days with Gino ! 4th/ poor lack of ideas & providing alternatives. we had to cancel Koman lake visit due to rainy weather in Shkoder without providing actual alternative. later I came to know from Flori that he could have called another boat type in case of rain & would have been ok. We also had accident in Llogara mountain, although it was not his fault, his speed was defiantly a factor & could have been avoided as we wasted one hour to wait for the police to come. Communication & Service: once we arrived in the hotel in Tirana, we found the room was booked based on twin beds not kind although i've informed them that we're couple. also, coordination was not done with the guide as he arrived the 1st day without a car to visit Dajti Park even though it was confirmed prior by email. We believe its a beautiful country, however having selected this tour guide & this company has ruined the experience.

A great trip and excellent guide ( Mimi .) Albania is well worth a visit, as it has a bit of everything. Great weather, mountains, beaches, castles, and an interesting history. Also excellent and cheap food and drink.

What a wonderful, interesting and truly fascinating country. If you are thinking of visiting Albania, i would strongly recommend this tour. It is a country of such dramatic contrasts that would not be appreciated by staying in one part. Breathtaking mountains, beautiful beaches, amazing historical sites. It has a bit of everything. Our guide, now our friend, Edvin, could not have done any more to make it a memorable holiday.
