What people love about Scotland Tours in November
- 3 Day Isle of Skye
This tour is one the best things I have ever done! Scotland is such a beautiful country and Macbackpackers made it such a fun experience. Branca especially was fantastic at telling us the history in an engaging way and played the best Scottish music as well. It was super windy so we couldn’t get off Skye easily on the last day but Branca was able to adapt and made it non stressful, I can’t recommend this enough!
- 2-day Outlander Tour (Small Group)
Our guide Steven B was excellent. The tour was full on and covered lots of interesting ground. Being an Outlander fan, it was so nice to visit some of the filming locations, plus the beautiful scenery of the Highlands of Scotland.
- Skye, The Highlands & Loch Ness - from Glasgow
I went on the 3 day Highland and Isle of Skye tour and it was fantastic. The bus driver was entertaining and friendly and open to suggestions on what the tour group was interested in. In winter you are definitely restricted on daylight hours and the weather and the guide was up for anything. We had time limits at each location, but what's 20 extra minutes among friends. He had excellent local knowledge and I would definitely recommend Timberbush to future travellers. We were on the last tour (nearly) for the season and hardly anything was open which meant we didn't have many food and coffee stops, but when we did stop it was great.
What our customers ask about Scotland Tours in November 2025
What are the best indoor attractions to visit in Scotland during November?
Scotland's indoor attractions provide welcome shelter during November's cooler days. The extensive exhibits at Edinburgh Castle showcase royal history while the National Museum of Scotland spans multiple floors of Scottish heritage. Up in the Highlands the Glenmorangie Distillery offers warming whisky tours. The Highland Folk Museum lets visitors step into Scotland's past through preserved buildings and artifacts. Many guided tours include stops at historic castles like Eilean Donan and local pubs that serve traditional fare and hot drinks perfect for autumn evenings.
Are there any special events or festivals in Scotland during November?
The month brings several distinctly Scottish celebrations headlined by St Andrew's Day on November 30 with music and dancing across Edinburgh and Glasgow. Mid-November marks the start of the Inverness Winter Festival which fills the city with Christmas markets and illuminated displays. The Oban Winter Festival celebrates Celtic culture through whisky tastings and performances. Most events are easily accessible from hotels like the Holiday Inn Express Glasgow or Apex Waterloo Place Edinburgh which offer comfortable bases for festival-going.
What are the best places to visit in Scotland during November?
Edinburgh's Royal Mile and castle complex reward exploration in autumn alongside the atmospheric Highlands. The Cairngorms paint the landscape in fall colors while Inverness and Fort William offer plenty of indoor sites. Eilean Donan Castle near Skye stands proudly against November skies and Glencoe's valleys take on extra drama. The Old Waverley Hotel in Edinburgh and Royal Highland Hotel in Inverness put visitors close to major attractions while providing cozy retreats from the weather.
How long are daylight hours in Scotland during November?
Daylight spans roughly 8-9 hours with Edinburgh seeing sunrise around 8:00 AM and sunset near 4:00 PM. Northern areas like Inverness and the Isle of Skye experience even briefer days. Tour operators structure itineraries carefully around these shorter hours scheduling indoor activities for early mornings and evenings to ensure guests can fully experience outdoor sites during precious daylight.
What transportation options are available in Scotland during November?
Visitors can rely on mini-coaches trains and ferries during November travel. The scenic West Highland Railway Line maintains regular service between Glasgow and Fort William. Most tour companies use 16-seat Mercedes mini-coaches equipped for Highland weather conditions. Train connections linking Edinburgh and London run frequently while island ferries operate on adjusted winter timetables that account for seasonal conditions.
How much should I budget for a Scotland trip in November?
Tours range from USD 330-4000 based on duration and included features. A standard 4-5 day Highland expedition typically costs USD 1200-1600 per person covering lodging and select meals. November rates often run 20% below peak summer prices. Additional costs include whisky tastings (USD 15-30) castle admission (USD 15-25) and dinner which averages USD 25-40 per person.
Are boat tours and cruises still operating in Scotland during November?
Several boat operators maintain November schedules including Loch Ness cruises from Fort Augustus and Jacobite voyages from Inverness. While some smaller companies reduce service the main routes continue running. Cruises offer unique perspectives of waterside attractions like Urquhart Castle though weather can affect sailing conditions and schedules may adjust accordingly.
